Information for Presenters
Please see information for presenters for both oral and poster presentations below.
Oral presentations
Slides should be uploaded in the break immediately before your session. Volunteers will be present in the rooms to assist with this. It is preferred if you can bring your slides on a USB (or similar) and upload these on the computer in the room to help aid the transition between speakers.
If you intend to present from your own computer instead (e.g. if using a Mac), please let the volunteer in your room know and test out the connection in advance to ensure the session runs smoothly.
There are 4 types of oral presentations which differ in terms of the length of time allocated to the presentation. These are:
Contributed presentation
15 minutes in total, recommended talk time is 12 minutes with 3 minutes for Q&A.
Invited speaker
20 minutes in total, recommended talk time is 15-17 minutes with 3-5 minutes for Q&A.
Keynote speaker
30 minutes in total, recommended talk time is 25 minutes with 5 minutes for Q&A.
Plenary speaker
60 minutes in total, recommended talk time is 45-50 minutes with 10-15 minutes for Q&A.
Plenary, keynote and invited speakers are indicated on the conference website here and will have been notified of their presentation type separately. Other presentations will be contributed presentations. Note that student speakers who have been selected to represent their branches during the student session have the same time allowance as a contributed presentation.
Poster presentations
Poster presenters can attach their posters at any stage from 9 am on Monday 21st November. We recommend putting your poster up as early as possible to maximise exposure as the posters will be available to view during meal breaks.
Adhesive velcro dots will be provided to attach the posters to the poster boards. Preferred poster size and orientation is A0 portrait although A1 portrait or landscape will also fit the boards.
Each poster board will contain a poster number, please attach your poster to the correct board. The list of poster numbers alongside author name and title is available here.
Poster presenters should stand with their posters during the poster session which will be held from 5:45–7:45 pm on Tuesday 22nd November.
We encourage presenters to leave their posters up throughout the conference, although they should be removed by the end of the afternoon tea break on Thursday 24th November.
